Remote Surgical Coder – Profee Multi Specialty – New York, NY

Overview of Position

Abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate ICD 10 CM and/or CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures. Analyzes, enters and manipulates database, confirms appropriate DRG assignments. Knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding required. May have proficiency in 3 coding specialties. Answer questions for Level 1 coders and acts as a resource for coding compliance. Has proficiency in ICD-10 coding. May check the work of a Level 1 coder to ensure proper information has been assigned.

  • What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

    • Position requires strong surgical coding experience specifically in the areas of General Surgery, GI Surgery, ENT, Plastics,
    • Abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate ICD10 CM and/or CPT codes (including Evaluation & Management codes) to patient records according to established procedures
    • Analyze, enter, and manipulate database
    • Participate in internal QA audits and provide feedback in the compliance QA process

    What are the requirements needed for this position?
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • CPC or CCS-P certification
    • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4
    • At least three years of coding experience

    What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
    • Multi Specialty coding experience
    • Knowledge of profee-side coding
